I decided to play out a dream where BLRdesign has a branch called BLRracing which will act as a Car Manufacturer. So the task is to design a fleet of automobiles that are truest to what I would want to see from the many layouts in existence (FF, FR, MR, RR, 4WD). This fleet is not to be restricted in any way at this stage the goal is to get the truest forms of expression out for these many platforms then hone down what could make sense to move into the next development phase, we will get into that later… First up is MR, I chose to focus on mid engine rear wheel drive first due to my childhood fascination of this platform, I always thought of it as the most exotic. It was the first layout that really caught my attention and brought me into investigating these various layouts and how they work. The target weight would be around 1,000 kg or 2200 lbs. The structural style for this model would be monocoque. Monocoque is a structural system where loads are supported through an object's external skin, similar to an egg shell. The monocoque chassis would also support a full cantilever suspension front and rear. The relative size and weight would allow the bay to hold a mid displacement longitudinal NA Inline 6 or a small displacement Turbo V6 with a goal of 350HP to 400HP.
